Kanban board.
Visualization that helps.

What is a kanban board and why do you need one? Learn what is one of the most popular (and effective) project management tools.
Where did the term come from?
Kanban is a misspelled Japanese word "kamban" which can be translated as "signboard" or "board".

This term has long been established in the financial and IT environment and is widely used in the modern world. And, by the way, it is perfectly applicable for your daily life, if you want to manage your time more efficiently and have a systematic work plan in front of your eyes for the near future.
What are the basic principles of kanban and what does the board have to do with it?
Kanban is a management methodology based on transparency for all team members, minimization of unfinished tasks and even and efficient distribution of tasks among team members. All this is done through visualization.

To implement the methodology, a board is used, which can be both physical and electronic. The board is divided into columns, for example, "planned", "in progress", "completed". Each column contains tasks, in the form of stickers or cards. One card - one task. If the task is too voluminous, then it is divided into several. Each card goes from “planned” to “completed”. There are often limits on the number of tasks in the "in progress" column. This is done so that there are no “hanging” tasks. Undertook - finish it, and then take a new task.

Depending on the goals and features of the project, there may be more columns and they may be called differently. For example, columns on a copywriter's board might be labeled as follows: "Planned Topic", "Information Gathering", "Text Plan" "Draft", "Editing" "Submitting Text to the Customer".

Sometimes scheduled tasks are categorized by priority. Sometimes, if the project is very flexible and there is a need to quickly respond to external factors, the “Deferred” column is added. An important advantage of a kanban board is that each project can adapt it to suit their needs.
Why is this needed?
When using a kanban board, any member of the team, looking at it, will understand the current status of the project, its degree of readiness, the nearest planned tasks and their priority, and also see what their project colleagues are currently doing.

Such transparency allows not only to work more efficiently, but also creates conditions for discussion, because when the project is in full view of everyone, it is much easier to share ideas and notice problems.
In everyday life, you can also use a kanban board. It is convenient to plan your daily activities and monitor progress. For this, for example, a magnetic board and colored stickers can be perfect.

Or you can use one of the electronic services, many of which have wider functionality than just a kanban board. The most popular ones are Trello and Asana. Less common (but not inferior in quality) are Weeek, ClickUp, MeistrTask and many others.

On the Internet, you can find paid and free tools, very simple and with advanced functionality. With a colorful design and designed in a strict office style. Anyone can customize a board according to their needs and budget and make their project or daily life much more organized.
